Why you ask?
- The cost of painting an existing piece of furniture is much cheaper than replacing with something new.
- You can pick up pieces of furniture from car boots, charity shops and E-Bay for a fraction of the cost and up cycle, again, it is much cheaper than brand new.
- Personality. Rather than furniture which is the same as everyone else, you can paint to match your own taste and personality, be different.
- Designing a new room, furniture no longer works with the new scheme, crack open the paint!
If you're worried that painted furniture isn't to your taste, not a 'shabby chic' fan, do not fear. There are many different techniques, distressed being the most popular but my favourite is a smooth finish, more chic so you can paint depending on your preference, we'll cover the different techniques another day so perhaps you can identify something for you.
Off to finish a country chic self unit - not sure I want to sell this one.............
